Talking Books Podcast Interview
Last week, I had the most amazing opportunity to be a guest on Talking Books with JT Crowley. This is a US podcast, but the host lives in the UK. The focus of the podcast was my debut novel, Sister Lost, and it was the most engaging podcast I have been on since I released the book. We had a lot of fun and the way JT interviews is unlike anything else I have ever participated in. It was an absolute pleasure.
No one gives an indie author a free guide to marketing. Honestly, we learn on the fly and try not to make too many mistakes, though more often than not, they are more than you’d hoped for. Add to that the inordinate amount of “book marketers,” and “marketing specialists” who spam my inbox offering to make my book climb in the rankings, though they can’t spell and english is often not their first language. I would honestly rather spend that time writing.

Word of mouth is the single most important marketing tool an author possesses. The downside is that people share their paperback copies with friends so they can read without purchasing their own. This does not help authors at all. Please encourage your friends to purchase the ebook or a paperback of their own as this is the only way we can get verified reviews and royalties from the sales, which are what we use to fund other works in progress.
Back to the interview. I don’t want to give to much away, but we do delve into specific chapters and give glimpses into the reasons certain things were included and the rollercoaster ride the reader is taken on. Yes, I write fiction that is extremely character driven. I want the reader to journey with Claire and experience everything through her eyes. I am pleased to say, given the feedback in posted reviews, and JT’s feedback, I have most certainly achieved this.
