Seek God’s Wisdom in 2025

STAY ALERT

Intuitively, I know what that phrase means, but for the purpose of this blog let me make it clear. According to Google, stay alert means to “pay full attention to the things going around you in the natural and in the spirit realms, and be prepared to deal with anything that comes along (the bold and italics I added).”

Please stop for a moment and ask yourself if you are alert and aware as you go about your day? If the answer is no, then practice being present in every moment of your day. Be situationally alert and aware so that if an attack (natural or spiritual) begins, you can deal with it swiftly and effectively. If dealing with a demonic attack is new to you, Ephesians 6:10-18 is a good reference and starting point. I may write another blog post this year addressing this, but back to wisdom.

Seek my wisdom

The word “wisdom” is used 234 times in the Bible. Then there are three books of wisdom in the Bible: Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.

“If anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5 CSB)

“The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10 AMPC)

As human beings, we acquire wisdom through life experiences, and it is subjective and far from perfect. That is why we need to seek God’s wisdom in all things.

Why now?

Mainstream media, and social media bombard us all day with “news” and lots of videos of heartrending disasters unfolding. It gets overwhelming and depressing, but we keep scrolling. It’s an addiction and I am as guilty as anyone, but God is dealing with that through this phrase and my decision to work on honing self-control once again.

Self-control is the last fruit of the spirit for a reason. I have to align my will with God’s and get rid of the behaviors and habits that take the place of spending time with Him. Scrolling eats up time like nothing else I know of. So, I have committed to reading through the Bible in chronological order this year… yes, the entire Bible in one year. It’s not as difficult as you might think. It takes self-control and a deliberate setting aside of time to get the daily readings done in an unhurried and thoughtful way, while listening for Holy Spirit’s still small voice.

Scrolling is only one distraction, there are many others: TV, video games, computer games, family conflicts, conflicts with friends, politics, and the list goes on. The enemy loves to divide us, to set us against one another, to destroy unity in any form whether that’s family or church or something else. Remember he has three goals always: to steal, to kill, and to destroy.

A call to unity

There is a remnant of Jesus’ followers on this earth who have not bowed to social constructs, pressures, and deviations. These followers know that their path is indeed very narrow and so they keep their face on Jesus, regardless of what comes at them.

We are living in unprecedented days and times. The generations alive now are dealing with things that other generations have not, and are also dealing with things that have run rampant throughout human history, tracing back to Adam.

We are indeed in the last days, and while no man knows the day or the hour, we must walk oh so carefully and find the other members of the remnant and build community. Until the trump sounds and our King returns, we must ensure that the Gospel is spread, that people are led to Jesus and plucked from the enemy’s camp.

To do this we need the wisdom of Holy Spirit more than ever before, so join me in doing whatever is necessary to stay alert while seeking and growing in the wisdom that comes from God himself and the kingdom that He is returning soon to establish. That word soon is much sooner than it has ever been.
